Product development, led by one person who stays on it.
Crafted by is built around a single accountable lead and a bench of senior specialists matched to what you're making. No junior teams, no handoffs between departments, no learning your product twice.
What Crafted by is
Most firms this capable come with an office, an account team, and a staffing model that puts juniors on your project so the overhead gets paid. Most people as senior as the specialists we work with are already inside companies and unavailable.
Crafted by sits between those. Blair leads the program and brings in the right senior people for your product. A medical device gets someone who has shipped medical devices. A connected consumer product gets someone who has shipped those. The team is assembled for what you're building rather than what happens to be on the bench.
That's why the range is wide. Strategy, industrial design, engineering, manufacturing, digital, brand, and packaging aren't seven departments here. They're the disciplines a product needs, brought in when it needs them.
Founded by.
Blair Hasty
Blair has spent 20+ years designing products that had to survive a cost target, a tooling schedule, and a launch date.
At Verizon he led design direction for connected hardware across a $2B portfolio, working across engineering, product, and manufacturing to get products shipped. At Griffin Technology he designed consumer accessories that sold through Apple Store and Best Buy, and holds four US utility patents from that work. He founded and ran BAIR Artifacts, a premium accessories brand, which means he has also negotiated with factories, set pricing, built packaging, and answered customer emails.
He founded Industrial Designers International, now 2,700+ designers globally, and has taught at SCAD, Georgia Tech, and Auburn.
On a Crafted by program, Blair sets direction, makes the calls that affect cost and manufacturability, and stays in it through production. He's the person on the first call and the person on the last one.
How engagements run
Blair leads direction and stays accountable for the product. Specialists handle execution inside their discipline, and you meet them. You're not handed to a project manager who relays messages.
We run a small number of programs at a time on purpose. If we can't give your product real attention, we'll say so on the first call rather than take it and stretch.
Every project starts with a focused first phase. It's small, it's paid, and it exists so you can see how we work before committing to anything larger.
What others have to say
“Blair helped lead cross-organizational work around design standards and portfolio consistency at Verizon. He sees both the broader system and the details, builds alignment across teams, and keeps product development moving through difficult decisions.”
Andy Toth
Verizon
“Blair designed a speaker line for one of our clients that became a category leader at Costco. He brings together user insight, design strategy, CAD expertise, and the ability to generate multiple viable approaches quickly.”
Dr. David A. Gilbert
Founder, Evermind
“Blair has a strong eye for the nuance and detail of product design, graphics, and trade dress. He is equally effective extending an established design language or developing a new direction from the ground up.”
Mark Rowan
CEO, Griffin Technology
“Blair worked directly with our camera ODM across the mechanical design of a new Verizon dash camera. The result was a sleek product that was simple to install and align. When thermal issues surfaced, he worked closely with the ODM to resolve them within the design constraints.”
Wally Walter
Verizon Connect
“Blair and I worked together to bring several products to market. His ability to combine field research, cross-functional collaboration, and business alignment made him a strong partner throughout the development process.”
