If you want a job where people instantly respect what you do - don’t become an industrial designer.

If you want a career where the best ideas always win - don’t become an industrial designer.

If you want work that’s predictable, straightforward, and neatly packaged - definitely don’t become an industrial designer.

Because industrial design is none of those things.

It’s fighting for the details no one notices - until they go wrong.

It’s defending good ideas from budget cuts, bad decisions, and “we’ll fix it later.”

It’s seeing a beautiful concept die because someone convinced leadership that design is just the surface layer.

It’s watching the ugliest, clunkiest, cheapest version of your work outsell the thing you poured your soul into.

It’s frustrating. It’s exhausting. And sometimes, it makes you wonder if it’s worth it.

But then -

you see something you designed out in the world.

And it works. And it fits. And it makes sense. And no one has to think about it, because you did. And suddenly, there’s no other job you’d rather do.

So, if you want an easy career, don’t become an industrial designer. But if you want to make things better, smarter, and more meaningful - welcome to the only job that matters.​
