INDUSTRIAL DESIGN: leadership does not starts before you get the title

A lot of people think leadership begins at manager, director, or VP. As if that is the point where you finally get the authority to make things happen. To control your own destiny.

The irony is that the opposite is true. The better you are at working with people, the farther you’ll go.

You never reach a level where you get to operate without constraint, politics, or alignment. You are always working with people you do not control and answering to someone above, beside, or around you.

Most designers who rise did not get there because they had authority. They got there because they learned how to influence without it. That is the real work, less pushing, more pulling.
