INDUSTRIAL DESIGN: most hardware startups begin at the wrong place

Too many hardware startups start with the guts, then try to force a product around them later. The internals get locked, the parts get selected, the manufacturing path gets chosen. Only then does someone ask the questions that should have come first. Whose problem does this actually solve? What does it need to feel like for someone to trust it, want it, and keep using it?

Your customer does not care about your internal layout. They experience the entire thing at once. They hold it, fight it, misunderstand it, return it, or bring it into their life.

When design shows up late, it is not shaping the product. It is cleaning up after decisions that already killed the magic.

The best startups do not engineer first and hope people want it. They design belief first, then make it real.
