INDUSTRIAL DESIGNERS: you're not good enough

Someone will notice. One bad review. One tough question. One project that slips. That’ll be the moment they figure out you don’t really belong here. That the luck finally runs out.

That voice never shuts up.

The designer whose work you're comparing yourself to? They’re hearing the same voice. Looking at someone else thinking theirs isn't good enough.

Imposter syndrome doesn’t show up because you’re incompetent. It shows up because you can see the gap. You can see what better looks like. You can see what you missed. That awareness is not weakness. It’s proof you care.

The VP you persuaded did not get tricked. The factory did not accidentally approve your files. The product in the market is not working by coincidence. Those outcomes happened because you did the work.

The gap between where you are and where you want to be is not evidence you’re a fraud. It is the cost of ambition. If you didn’t feel it, you’d already be coasting.

Stop listening to that voice. It's been wrong the whole time.
