INDUSTRIAL DESIGN: criticism is how you get the job and keep it

New designers, this is the toughest entry market I've seen in 20+ years, and nobody prepared you for it. Not your fault. Schools survive on enrollment, so they asked how you felt, gave extensions, softened every critique.

Work runs on one rule. You get paid to bring value to the business, period. Your feelings matter exactly as long as you're delivering it. Become a drag on the team and they go back to the pile of hundreds of other yous and pick the next one.

Criticism is how you stay off that pile. It's the best education you'll get and the fastest way to become someone worth keeping. Take hard feedback without turning it into a personal crisis, pull the useful part out, and prove through the next version that you listened.

The ones who learn to want it get hired. The ones who keep asking for it stay there.
