INDUSTRIAL DESIGN: hardware doesn’t forgive

In software, you can ship and fix later. In hardware, every decision hardens.

Once you build tooling, you are committing to thousands of identical mistakes if you guessed wrong. Geometry, fasteners, wall thickness, assembly sequence. They become expensive opinions.

Early stage founders often obsess over features and pitch decks. The physical product feels secondary as long as it “works.” But hardware does not reward assumptions. It punishes them at scale.

Design is not decoration layered on top of engineering. It is the discipline that forces clarity before capital gets locked into tooling. It is risk reduction.

If you are building hardware, the real risk is not moving too slowly. It is moving confidently in the wrong direction.
