INDUSTRIAL DESIGNERS: it’s ok to design for yourself too

I'll spend entire weekends perfecting a design detail that only I will notice. Obsessing over weight distribution on a prototype that may never leave my desk. Building things with a level of care that feels almost embarrassing to admit.

The world tells us creation needs an audience, that effort without an audience is wasted. But I've learned that the design you perfect in private is where you discover what excellence actually feels like in your hands. You don't design for attention, you do it because it satisfies something deeper that doesn't need validation to exist.

The best work happens when no one is watching.
