INDUSTRIAL DESIGNERS: community check-in
How connected do you feel to other industrial designers right now?
If you're like most designers I talk to, and I’ve talked to A LOT, the answer is "not very." Remote work, small teams, and the general pace of things has left many of us professionally isolated. We're solving problems in silos when this field works best as a conversation.
The thing is, designer conversations are different. We understand the obsessive attention to details, the excitement of a good constraint, the weird satisfaction of making something work better. That kind of understanding is valuable, and it's worth seeking out.
This week, make one connection. Comment thoughtfully on someone's work. Share a challenge you're facing. Ask for input in IDI. The design community only exists if we participate in it.
Industrial Designers International is where a lot of these conversations are happening. Join us if you're looking for more honest dialogue with other people whose minds bounce around in a hundred directions at once.
