INDUSTRIAL DESIGNERS: smart eyewear, yes or no?

Meta’s latest smart glasses launch didn’t exactly go smoothly. The demo had technical issues, the feature set landed flat, and the design is a one-size-fits-all approach with very little variation in shape or finish. For a category that lives on your face, that feels like a strange oversight.

But putting Meta aside for a moment, I’m genuinely interested in what people think about the smart eyewear space overall. I definitely think it’s interesting and will keep following developments in the space. The use cases are still forming, and I’m not sure what’s going to stick yet.

So, the tech giants are convinced that this is the next big market, but I’m curious where others stand.

Do you see this becoming a huge category?

What’s the most compelling use case?

What does it do well?

What does it need to do, or do better, to really succeed in the market?

Will you be wearing a pair soon?
