The Weight of the Object
There was a time when objects were not consumed, but chosen.
Their form held meaning. Their weight was familiar. We remembered where we placed them. And they remembered us back.
Now, they arrive in boxes. Folded in silence. Made to solve a single moment of want. A loose cord. A scratched corner. An impulse.
We are surrounded by things that disappear.
I long for a different object. One that does not beg for attention, but holds it.
Not loud. Not new. Just true. Built with care, not because it is rare, but because it will remain.
To own something permanent is to live alongside it. To let it age beside you. To feel a kind of quiet devotion
When it can no longer be mended.
When it breaks,
you do not discard it. You mourn it.
I want a design that deserves that.
I want less.
And I want it to mean more.
