INDUSTRIAL DESIGNERS: your handoff shouldn’t be a wall
Too many teams treat marketing like a phase that happens after design is done. Designers think through function, form, materials. Marketers think through audience, message, price, channel. You need both at the table early.
Otherwise you're shaping a product around guesses or marketing a product nobody asked for.
Stop handing off decks hoping they get it. Invite them in at the start. Ask their opinion. Align decisions.
When design and marketing collaborate early, the work gets sharper. You're solving real problems for specific people in specific contexts. That clarity shows up in every detail.
Marketing isn't decoration after design is done. It's strategic context that makes design better. Design isn't just execution. It's how you deliver on the marketing promise.
The best products happen when both sides stop defending territory and start solving together.
